Das alte Rathausgebäude wird zum neuen Anziehungspunkt für das öffentliche und touristische Leben in Egloffstein. Alle öffentlichen Funktionen liegen an einer rund um die Uhr geöffneten, barrierefreien Durchwegung, die vom Marktplatz, durch den Altbau hinaus auf die rückwärtige Terrasse zum Erweiterungsbau führt. Die verschiedenen Nutzungsbereiche funktionieren dabei sowohl getrennt voneinander als auch in Kombination. Über den Tag verteilt wird so eine Vielfalt an Szenarien möglich.
Mit wenigen Eingriffen werden die Grundrisse des Bestandsgebäudes klar strukturiert. In den Obergeschossen entstehen so eine barrierefreie Wohnung sowie eine größere Maisonette-Wohnung. Der Bestand wird durch einen multifunktionalen Pavilion in Holzbauweise ergänzt.

The former town hall building becomes the new center of attraction for public and tourist life in Egloffstein. All public spaces are located along a barrier-free passageway, open day and night, that leads from the market square, through the existing building out to the terrace and the extension building. The different spaces can be used both separately and in combination with each other, allowing for a variety of scenarios throughout the day.
With few structural interventions, the floor plans of the existing building are reorganized in a simple and clear manner. On the upper floors, a barrier-free apartment and a larger duplex are created.
The pavilion-like timber construction serves as a multifunctional extension to the old building.
